Artist Statement

Both spray paint and graffiti were always in the periphery of my upbringing: layered on the brick of buildings, by stickers, layers of peeling paint, markers on trains seats, blue mailboxes, billboards on the crosswalks, influencing me to layer shapes and forms using different materials within my paintings. I break the conceptions of perceptions of spray-paint, sharpie, watercolors, and acrylic from their traditionally craft-only applications and repurpose them for use into fine art. Sharpies and spray-paint offer quickness in placing the visuals on canvas, drying faster, allowing me to make continuous coatings. The more layers, the more of a context exists.
